The Great Ocean Walk

In a couple of weeks or so, the Professor and I will embark on a journey within a journey within a journey within a journey. That is to say we will journey the Great Ocean Walk within the journey of being here in Australia within the journey of being together within the journey of being our individual selves. Whoa, that's a lot of journeying. As Lao Tzu said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." In this case though, it is only 104 kilometers. Here is a trailer for a new documentary about the The Great Ocean Walk and walking in general:

It should take us a week to complete it. We are a bit nervous about it because we know it will be challenging, both physically and mentally, but we are also very excited because we know it will be rewarding and full of beauty. I will be sure to take lots of pictures to share with you when we get back. And hopefully I will learn a thing or two. And maybe I will lose a couple LBs (or KGs, rather) from my thunder thighs. To learn more about the Great Ocean Walk, you can go here.

In honor of April Fool's Day, here are some GIFs for you:

The GIFs are adorably goofy. Wish I lived by you.

This walk looks incredible. 65 miles is a long way, even in a week. So, packing everything you need and carrying it with you. Is there potable water along the way?

It's so beautiful. I was looking for a photo to post with tomorrow's RUMI DAYS post, I needed ocean. Well, I don't have any pics of the ocean. Can you believe it? I really don't get there much. I just have Lake Michigan.

I think your hearts are going to soar. What a high. I envy you.

Yes, I'm afraid our packs will be a bit heavy, but there is water at the campsites, we will just have to treat it first. I went for a run the other day and realized how incredibly out of shape I am, so I hope I'm up for this challenge. And yes, I hope our hearts do soar!

I hope Don had a happy birthday!

I just finished looking at the Great Ocean Walk website...you 2 are going to have an incredible adventure! I'm getting chills thinking about your journey ahead. Being an old backpacker, I always get excited when someone I know is getting ready for a walking trip. I think I was more excited for the kids when they made there Big Bend trip than they were & I'm just as excited for the both of you. I know you'll treasure every moment and have some great stories to tell. I can't wait to hear them & see some fantastic pictures. Enjoy the walk!

He did, thank you. He turned 55, and we (Lesley & Brian, Peter, and I) found (well really Brian found) a special Scotch that is called Latitude 55 because it is 55%.

(Sorry, if you don't drink alcohol. He drinks a Scotch every so often, and this is a nice one.)
